Chemistry
During chemical reactions the atoms in the reactants rearrange
Matter is made of atoms, which may combine to form molecules
Metals have properties in common
Each element is made of one kind of atom
Elements are organized in the periodic table
Scientists can create discrete images of atoms and molecules
Separate mixtures and identify compounds
Properties of solid, liquid, and gaseous substances
Living organisms and materials are composed a few elements
Common properties of salts, such as sodium chloride

Biology
Multicellular organisms have structures to transport materials
Blood circulates through the body
Sequential steps in the function of the digestive system
Role of the kidney in removing cellular waste from blood
Sugar, water, and minerals are transported in a vascular plant
Plants use carbon dioxide and energy from sunlight
Plant and animal cells break down sugar to obtain energy

Oceanography
Most of Earth's water is present as salt water in the oceans

Meteorology
When liquid water evaporates it can reappear as a liquid or solid
Water vapor in the air moves from one place to another
The amount of fresh water is limited
The origin of the water used by local communities
Uneven heating of Earth causes air movements
Influence the ocean has on the weather
Role the water cycle plays in weather patterns
Causes and effects of different types of severe weather
Use weather maps and data to predict local weather
The Earth's atmosphere exerts a pressure

Astronomy
The Sun is the central and largest body in the solar system
The solar system includes the Earth, Moon, Sun, and other planets
The path of a planet around the Sun is due to gravity

Scientific Process
Classify objects in accordance with appropriate criteria
Develop a testable question
Plan and conduct a simple investigation
Identify the dependent and controlled variables in an investigation
Identify a single independent variable in a scientific investigation
Select appropriate tools and make quantitative observations
Record data and make inferences
Draw conclusions from scientific evidence
Write a report of an investigation
